'13 Rte Blanc
The fruit for our Sauvignon Blanc comes from a small vineyard located at the end of Fulton Lane in St. Helena. The 3 acre vineyard has been owned and farmed by the Amendola family for over thirty years. The moderate climate and deep alluvial soils of the Amendola vineyard are ideal conditions for growing the crisp, fruit-driven style of our Rte Blanc Sauvignon Blanc.
2013 was a consistent year with a warm, dry spring that brought early bud break and moderate temperatures throughout the growing season. Harvest was one of the earliest in recent history with most of the Napa Valley white wine grapes picked by early September.
The grapes were handpicked early in the morning of September 5th and received in the cellar where they were passed through a gentle whole cluster press and then cold settled. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks, aged on the lees for 5 months and bottled in early March.
A bright and crisp Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of grapefruit rind and pineapple that lead to juicy tropical fruit and citrus flavors. Medium bodied with a zippy acidity and a smooth, crisp finish.
